MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

God created us for fellowship with each other and we pray that all the women in our

congregation feel like they belong and have a place at Zion so created the Women’s Network to connect our ministries. If you are planning to attend a meeting please email or call the ministry’s contact person to give them a heads up that you are interested so they can be prepared to welcome you and make sure they are still meeting at the day and time shown below.

Advent By Candlelight

Each year at the beginning of the Advent season, Zion’s women and their guests are invited to participate in a special evening to highlight the beginning of our preparations for Christmas. This event takes place the first Tuesday in December. Click on the link for the Advent by Candlelight website below for information.

Girlfriend Gathering

In conjunction with Chapel of the Cross’ WOMEN ROOTED IN CHRIST, Zion’s Women’s Network hoststhis annual women’s conference in late February on a Friday evening and Saturday morning. Zion hosts in even-numbered years; Chapel hosts in odd-numbered years. The program usuallyconsists of presentations from gifted women speakers, supplemented by enjoyable break-outsessions.

Mary Martha

This ministry is a service organization composed of ladies dedicated to helpingZion through their time, talents, and offerings. Mary Martha Society is part of the LWML and supports local and national missions by collecting needed items and mites. Members also serve on the Altar Guild, Flower Team, and wherever help is needed. Mary Martha hosts the December coffee hours and prepares a Lenten Soup ‘N Salad meal. Monthly meetings consist of devotions, prayers, guest speakers, refreshments, and a short business meeting (no meetings December, June, nor July).

Nursery Ministry

The Nursery Ministry provides childcare, 2-3 volunteers at a time, on Sundays at 9:30 AM for parents who participate in the Higher Education Classes between Sunday church services. Click for more children’s ministries opportunities.

Treble Choir

This “women’s only” choir practices weekly in the Fall through the Spring each year. Unison, 2-part and 3-part pieces are prepared for leading select worship services throughout the year, as well as for Advent By Candlelight, Lessons and Carols, Girlfriend Gathering, and Living Last
Supper. We welcome anyone from high school age and up who loves to worship through song. Please contact Teresa Thoelke if interested.

Women's Retreat Ministry

This committee plans an annual offsite weekend designed to give women an opportunity for Renewal in the Spirit through topical discussions, Reconnection with each other through
fellowship and fun activities, and Relaxation through peaceful time away from everyday life.
The committee strives each year to offer a balance of praise, study, and fun, including many optional activities that appeal to a wide range of interests. Participants arrive Friday evening and return home in the afternoon on Sunday. All women are invited to attend the retreat, and new committee members are always welcome.

Baptismal Banner Team

While enjoying Christian fellowship, this group of ladies meets weekly to make baptismal banners for infants and children baptized at Zion. Please contact the leader for more information.

Ladies Aid

The Ladies’ Aid Society is a service organization that is affiliated with theLutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). We donate to LWML missions through mites collected, work on mission quilts, serve food for funeral luncheon families, host an annual card party in August, and provide oil for church candles. Ladies’ Aid Society also provides its members with caring fellowship.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is a committee of Zion’s Mary Martha Society. On a rotating basis, this service group of ladies (weekly) cleans the chancel area of the sanctuary, sets up and cleans the communion ware and linens for all Holy Communion observances, and launders the sacred linens.

Quilting Club

Zion Quilting Club provides Christian fellowship to women who enjoy using their creative gifts to earn funds for God’s work. Their careful stitches produce many beautiful quilts every year.

Women of Grace

Woman of Grace is an eight-week program based on Titus 2:3-5. Older women will walk alongside younger women as together we look at God’s Word with the desire to strengthen our
families. We will discuss one of the following topics on successive evenings: keeping a Christian home, kindness, loving our children, loving our husbands, purity, submission, and hospitality. Afterwards, we enjoy dessert and fellowship. The eight-week program will conclude
with our husbands joining us for a Celebration Meal.

Cafters

Zion’s Crafters is a group of talented people (women and men) who produce high quality handmade items for two craft sales. All proceeds benefit Zion Church, school, and outreach ministries. People can choose to join us on Wednesdays or work from home and donate their items. The craft group also accepts donations of crafting supplies. The Crafters group is always looking for creative people to join them, so please reach out to the leader to learn more!

Lutherans For Life

Saint Charles County Lutherans for Life (LFL) is an advocacy group motivated by the Gospel to equip Lutherans and their neighbors to become Gospel-motivated voices for life. LFL also ministers personally to people as opportunities arise.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer is a group of Zion Moms who meet once a week during the school year to pray for teachers, staff, students, the Zion community and special concerns.

Sprouts

Sprouts is a ministry for children ages birth to five years and their caregivers. Sprouts explores
faith building, sensory play, process art, service projects, music + movement, and once a month, nature walks. They meet when school is in session, so please contact the leader before attending to verify when and where the next meeting is.

Women's Bible Study

The Women’s Bible Study group offers an opportunity for women to get together for Bible studies, prayer, and fellowship. It is designed to help women take that special walk with God in a warm and welcoming environment that will strengthen relationships with our Savior and with
one another. The academic year schedule is typically Wednesday mornings, Wednesday
afternoons, and Thursday evenings. The morning class has a simultaneous Children’s Program. All women are welcome and warmly encouraged to join us for any of the three classes.
